Achim Kempe: a 25-Year Journey to #TeamNexperia’s COO
For over a quarter of a century, Achim’s career has been interwoven with the evolution of the semiconductor industry. After studying Electrical Engineering, his career began in the small town of Gunmmersbach, Germany. In 1997, he took a leap and joined Philips Semiconductors, embarking on a path that would see him rise to oversee global operations for a semiconductor company with over 15,000 employees shipping over 100 billion units annually.
His dedication and technical expertise were evident throughout his tenure, from working as Manager Wafertest BL General Application Discretes to taking over the reins as VP & GM of the Hamburg Waferfab after Philips Semiconductors made the announcement it would move forward as NXP Semiconductors in 2006.
The next chapter began in 2017 when NXP’s Standard Products Division spun off, and Nexperia was born. Achim embraced the change and became the Chief Operating Officer of the newly independent company just one year later.
Achim’s story is about more than one individual’s career trajectory; it embodies the values that drive Nexperia forward. The courage to take calculated risks. The ability to adapt and embrace change. An unwavering passion for driving sustainable innovation. We can all take a little inspiration from his journey from Gummersbach to leading a company with components found in virtually every electronic design in the world.
