Our SiC MOSFET lineup addresses the growing demand for high-power and high-voltage industrial applications with excellent RDSon temperature stability, fast switching speed, and high short-circuit ruggedness.

And now we’re offering our industry-leading 1200 V silicon carbide MOSFETs in D2PAK-7 surface mount device (SMD) packaging, with a choice of 30, 40, 60, and 80 mΩ RDSon values.

SMD packaging like D2PAK-7 are increasingly popular in various industrial applications including electric vehicle (EV) charging, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and inverters for solar and energy storage systems (ESS).

This release represents the next step in our strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Electric. We’ve joined forces to push the energy efficiency and electrical performance of SiC wide bandgap semiconductors to the next level, while additionally future-proofing production capacity for this technology in response to ever-growing market demand.

It was a pleasure to welcome local politician Tom Morrison and the Leader of Stockport Council, Mark Hunter, to our ‘Northern Powerhouse’ in South Manchester, England. The location is home to our industry-leading power FET portfolio employing around 1,200 people helping drive innovation by powering the industry’s smallest, yet most powerful, brushless DC motors for household appliances and robots, 5G / computing infrastructures, and of course, vehicle electrification. From developing cutting-edge process (GaN, TrenchMOS) and package (LFPAK) technologies to product development, #TeamNexperia Manchester is crucial to our ambitions to shape the future of semiconductors with a special focus on automotive technology.

Our HR Director Christian led the tour and introduced our business, including a visit to our Failure Lab for a hands-on look at how we ensure the quality and reliability of our components.

“It was brilliant to visit Nexperia and see first-hand the incredible work the team there do. I was so impressed with not only the ambition and dedication to innovation but also the team spirit that was on show with the people I met. There was so much pride in the work that was being done and it was a real credit to the company.

Thank you for a great visit and thank you to everyone that took the time out of their busy day to talk both Mark and I through your work.” – Tom Morrison.

You’re very welcome, Tom. Thanks for taking the time to learn about what we do at Nexperia!

Energy Harvesting with Ambiq

Why discard batteries when we can harness the power of the sun?

We brought our energy harvesting expertise to a team of tech industry superstars to create the HarvestKIT in close collaboration with Ambiq. The sensor platform, built around Ambiq’s Apollo 3 MCU and powered by Nexperia NEH2000BY with Panasonic PV modules, is composed of sensors from Bosch and TDK. No need for battery swaps as it was built to be fully energy-autonomous.

Ambiq showcased a live demo of the platform running at Embedded World this year that generated loads of interest. Our Regional Business Marketing Director, Chris, was joined by Ambiq’s Business Development Director, Chad Solomon, in an interview with ipXchange to highlight the endless battery capabilities of harvestKIT.

See the full interview – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_66sKomWR1o

Ambient energy harvesting has often been proposed for recharging batteries in remote internet-of-things devices but hasn’t quite taken off just yet due to complex existing solutions. Our dedicated PMIC is set to radically improve the viability of energy harvesting with significant benefits for product designers, final users as well as for the environment. Not only does it help the environment by lowering the number of primary batteries being discarded but also by lowering the volume of raw materials being mined because current batteries have a longer lifespan. Our long-term goal should be using natural resources efficiently with the least possible environmental footprint.

🙋🏻According to the 2021 State of the VCSFE Sector report, over 57,000 volunteers are selflessly giving 213,000 hours of their time a week to help others live healthy and happy lives in Stockport. Volunteering largely goes unnoticed, so we jumped at the opportunity to show gratitude at the Volunteer Awards Celebration 2024 – Stockport Rocks!

#StockportRocks took place two days ago and our UK HR Director, Christian, had the honor of presenting the Nexperia-sponsored Long Service Award to Marjorie Bennet from Girlguiding.

Joining him at the event were Elham, who volunteers for the Women in Nexperia (WiN), and Kerry who volunteers for WiNQuality groups in Manchester, both supporting and mentoring Women in Engineering. We’re proud to have taken home the Highly Commended Award in the Corporate Volunteer category, but nothing beats participating in such an inspiring event.

The following quote from Alicia perfectly sums up the kind of culture we strive for on #TeamNexperia – “As a company, we recognize the importance of enabling our employees to have the freedom and flexibility to be able to give back to the community during working hours, which is why our volunteering days are paid time off. In 2023, our employees dedicated over 400 hours to causes they were personally passionate about, an incredible achievement, all in aid of making a difference.” 💗

👏 Thank you to the teams at Stockport Volunteer Hub, Marketing Stockport and Stockport County Community Trust for organizing this inspiring event.

One of our top priorities is finding solutions to simplify the complex and time-consuming design engineering process. Thankfully, we have a long-term partnership with one of the best agencies in TRIMM, which specializes in bringing digital visions to life.

Little to our surprise, TRIMM is once again a nominee for the Dutch Interactive Awards (DIA) in the categories Disruptor and Tools & Services for their work on our Interactive Datasheets. We have a clear favorite to win and can’t thank them enough for delivering a simple and elegant solution that has already profoundly impacted the design process.

A special thank you also goes out to #TeamNexperia members Stein, and the entire MOSFETs team, as well as Maarten from Digital Marketing, for their tireless work to get this massive project up and running in collaboration with the amazing team at TRIMM.

Best of luck at the DIAs, we’re always rooting for you!

PS – We can’t wait to enrich your engineering experience further when version 2.0 drops. More on that later.
