The package options for our NextPower 80/100 V MOSFET portfolio now include LFPAK56 & LFPAK88. Previously only available in LFPAK56E, these devices have been designed to combine high efficiency with reduced spiking behavior in telecommunications, server computing, industrial, power supply, fast charging, USB-PD, and motor control applications.

MOSFET (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) selection has traditionally been based on the typical Figure of Merit, Qg(tot) (Total Gate Charge) and RDS(on) (Drain-Source on Resistance). However, with the industry pressure to reduce these values, other parameters such as Qgd (Gate Drain Charge), Body Diode (Vf – Forward Voltage) and reverse diode recovery (Qrr – Reverse Recovery Charge) are often forgotten. These parameters can actually have quite the impact on device efficiency.

Our colleagues at Nexperia Malaysia recently wrapped up their first-ever Shark T+ competition, where 8 teams from IT, Manufacturing, Facilities, Finance, HR & more dove into the deep end and gave their best pitch to a panel of judges as part of our global initiative aimed at exploring the latest tech in the semiconductor industry and strengthen the innovative mindset among employees.

The judges panel, which included CIO Martin & Head of Backend & Manufacturing, Otto, was tasked with picking 3 winners. After hearing all the pitches and engaging in some tough Q&A to identify the ideas that would move on to the Proof of Concept (PoC) stage, the top teams walked away with prize money to fund the projects.

The event was a huge success and we ‘re excited to follow how the winners implement their fresh ideas. Although everyone couldn’t go home a with a prize, it was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm and spirit of fair but tough competition each team displayed while contributing to the launch of this rewarding program.

Congratulations to everyone that made this happen, all the participants & judges, and finally, the winners!
